DIY Snap Frame

I've seen snap frames at quilt shops and online. It's easy to build your own with PVC and snap clamps. That's all they are anyway.

(2) 24" length 1" I.D. Charlotte pipe
(4) 8" lengths 1" I.D. Charlotte pipe
(4) 1" 90 degree elbows
(6) 1 x 4" PVC Clamps from Flexpvc.com
Dremel with reinforced cut off wheel or hacksaw
Tape measure
Sharpie
Painter's tape

Purchase two 24" sticks of PVC and cut it into 8" lengths. The easiest way to keep your cuts straight is to wrap painter's tape around the pipe just above the mark. Using a dremel, cut 8" pieces from the 24" pipes. You'll have 16" left from one of the pipes. Save it for another project. Double check pieces cut by a lumber yard. Most of mine were up to a 1/2" too long and one was 1/4" too short.

Now, connect the pieces and snap the clamps on. This frame is perfect for any hand needle work and for basting around quilt blocks.
With just 4 3-way tees, longer clamps, and longer pipe, you can build a floor frame.
