Makeup Ingredients

 
Lauryl Laurate Wax: A very soft wax that melts on contact.

Beeswax: Soft wax used in oil-wax blends.


Carnauba Wax: Hardens and has a high melt point.

Ozokerite Wax: Very hard wax with a high melt point.

Jojoba Wax: Hardener and stabilizer for stick formulations.

Castor Wax: Emulsifier and solubilizer.

Emulsifying Wax: Blends oil and water.

Xanthan Gum: Gelling agent for water formulas.

Silica Dimethyl Silylate: Gelling agent for oil formulas.

Cetyl Alcohol: Non-gelling thickener that moisturizes.

Hectorite: Suspension and rheology agent.

Tragacanth: Used as a binder for pure pigments and powder pencils.

Wrinkle Blur: Minimizes wrinkles and pores by up to 84%.

Isododocane: Solvent used to dissolve silicone resin.

Dimethicone 100: Light weight silicone oil.

Cyclopentasiloxane: Non-oily light weight silicone oil.

Silicone Gel: Non-oily gel lubricant.

Hydrogenated Polyisobutene: A light non-oily lubricant.

C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate: A pigment dispersing emollient.

Silica: Scatters light blurring the look of lines and wrinkles.

Nylon 12: Sits on top of fine lines and wrinkles.

L-Lysine Sericite: Provides cushion and is waterproof.

Silk Mica: Scatters light.

Magnesium Stearate: A light powder that provides texture.

Magnesium Myristrate: A very fine powder used as a binder.

Zinc Stearate: A very sticky, waxy powder that aids in pressing and adheres to the skin.

Stearic Acid: An emulsifier, thickener and binder for cream.

Silicone Flake Resin: Transfer and water resistance.

French Talc: A translucent filler powder that provides slip.

Hydrolized Silk Powder: Improves moisture balance.

Hydrolized Pearl Powder: Sticky consistency.

Kaolin Clay: A heavy powder that mattifies.

Thickening Clay: A powder that thickens creamy formulas and suspends mica in liquid formulas.

Calcium Carbonate: A heavy powder that opacifies.

Tocopherol: A Vitamin E based antioxidant.

Cap 2 Preservative: A blend of phenoxyethanol with caprylyl and hexylene glycol that inhibits yeast and mold growth at a high pH. More oil miscible than Cap 5.

Cap 5 Preservative: A blend of phenoxyethanol and polysorbate that inhibits bacteria, yeast, and mold growth. More water miscible than Cap 2.

Disodium Laureth Sulfisuccinate, aka sodium laureth sulfate: A mild surfactant used as an emulsifier in mascara, not to be confused with sodium lauryl sulfate.

Propylene Glycol: Plasticizer that prevents mascara and eyeliner from cracking with eye movement.

Vegetable glycerin: Humectant and plasticizer.

Pressing Medium: For pressing powder formulas.

Matte Texture Base: All purpose base for pressed powder formulas.

Iron Powder: For making magnetic eyeliner and nail polish.


5 drops total of essential oil may be added to formulas.

For face: carrot seedfrankincensemyrrhrosehiplavender and tea tree (for acne, must be diluted).

For brows and lashes: rosemarycastor oilnettle extracthorsetail extract and panthenol.

For lips: peppermintcinnamonlavender and any LorAnn flavoring oil (one drop).
